I wish this app had been more upfront about the fact that you have to pay for a subscription to use any of the games or calling/messaging features. How disappointing it was to discover that.

Our wonderful daughter connects with us by FaceTime each week -- which includes our 8-yr-old grandson and 3-yr-old granddaughter, all of whom live 2000 miles away from us. While FaceTime is great -- and our granddaughter is almost always quite actively engaged -- our grandson had recently not been as engaged as he had in the past, so I asked our daughter if maybe Caribu would be a way to offer some activities that would spark his interest. Well, we gave it a go last Sunday, and I was AMAZED that, at the end of 90 min., our grandson still wanted to do "just one more" activity!!!! We began by reading the Rapunzel book to our granddaughter, who is right now totally into all things connected with Disney princesses -- it was a hit! She also got a kick out of scribbling on the blank face of "How are you feeling today?" under the Funny Faces options. She was then quite entertained by what her big brother created on a number of the other Funny Faces choices. And I greatly enjoyed discovering that, on my iPhone screen, I could "mess with" / move around the multiple eyes/ noses/ and mouths he had added to the numerous faces he chose! As for our grandson's other choices, he selected -- and we had lots of fun playing together -- a number of the memory games, sequence games, tile puzzle games, a couple of mazes, and a bit of find the hidden objects, tic-tac-toe, and Sudoku. And, our game plan for next weekend definitely includes a number of the Sing-Along books with our granddaughter -- as well as more princess books! -- and "whatever floats his boat" with our grandson! I'm very much looking forward to it! Oh, and yes... we've decided to set a timer for 30 min. each, so that their suppertime won't get delayed again! Many thanks for making active engagement with far-away grandkiddos possible in this wide variety of ways!

We have the iPad 9 with Center Stage. However Caribu does not utilize it and instead cuts off my daughter’s face so my parents can only see half of her. It’s pretty annoying.

We have had this app for nearly 3 years and it’s been wonderful for staying connected with family across the country. Lately, however (seems since acquired by Mattel), we have been having all kinds of problems and bugs. Grandma’s app no longer works because they’re requiring her to update but the OS on her iPad isn’t supported and she is not able to update her OS. So a big reason for having this app has been negated and we’ll be cancelling our subscription if this doesn’t resolve soon. THE DRAWING PAD used to be my child’s FAVORITE activity, but they’ve made all kinds of changes and added a lot of unnecessary stuff. The marker is translucent now which seems like an upgrade but it effectively removed the “large” drawing tool. The eraser has a slider for size now instead of 3 size choices… but doesn’t get large enough any more. Most frustratingly, touch sensitivity is far less responsive so it makes unpredictable marks and we can’t draw small “dots” any more. They added an undo button (which maybe is what’s causing so much bugginess, with the need for higher processing power?), and a zillion stickers — seems nice in theory but without some way to search the stickers, a larger catalog has just made it more cumbersome to find the stickers we want. When we went to “save” a drawing, it overwrote everywhere we used the eraser with a random paint color! My child was heartbroken. I’m SO FRUSTRATED to lose something that was such a boon in our lives. Fix the app, MATTEL!

Living across the world from grandparents, this is a great concept but it doesn’t work half the time. This makes it frustrating and not worth it to try most times we have together.

Email send is not an option with my child, without going into anything deeper. Apps like zoom give you a link or allow you phone message, etc. Children do not normally have access to email, and it’s 2023. This app has a lot of great stuff in it, hopefully that side of tech can catch up. I’ll join if we’ve got choices to connect with them outside of email.

Caribu deserve 1 star because their founders sold the company to another company then filed for dissolution last year and returned nothing ($0.00) to its early investors. Lost trust. If they ripped off their early investors, then they will do the same for customers and employees one day. Unethical founders manipulated investors!

Good app for kids ages 3 to 9 Ps.Send me developer response in 2 days at minimum and 4 at maximum

I just got back into Caribou and it has changed from before. There are now ads that are forced upon you, which makes me uncomfortable because the ads may have content I don’t want my child seeing. But more importantly, there is a whole pride section now and this no longer makes me comfortable to allow my daughter freedom on the app. I can no longer recommend it to like minded friend’s parents when our kids want to have a virtual playdate, and as far as I know there’s not choice of the parent to disable certain kind of content. I, the parent, want to be in control of what my child sees and now I am trying to be forced to let her explore things that are beyond her age. Please fix this.

We had the Amazon Glow and loved it. They discontinued it and we found this. I paid $100 for the year. We have only used it twice. My son is autistic and both times we have used it, it freezes up and he has a meltdown. He won’t go near it now. We emailed the company last week and they never responded.

I love this app BUT there appears to be a bug where if I expand the photo of her, I am black (not visible). This didn’t used to happen. It would be great to have this fixed. Thanks!

Can’t sort favourites by recency and no history of read books makes picking up where you left off difficult.

For a grandparent with my only grandchildren living in another country, Caribu has been a godsend! Twice every week I can see my granddaughters and have fun reading and playing games with them! We all look forward to it.

Several times while choosing books the book that is chosen does not load. So we pick another. It would be helpful if there was a way to correct this. Thank you.

Caribu developers came up with a fantastic app to safely allow kids to connect with each other and with the adults in their lives. However, after 2 years of use we are now at the point where we are running out of new content. It used to be that there was new thematic content added seasonally but now not only has it all become stale but some of our favorites (DC comics) are gone. At this rate we won’t be renewing our subscription and will just focus on something like zoom instead.

It is a vary good start. Only problem is that all the games are the same.

More things to do and more stickers dress up

I love the idea behind Caribu and was very excited about using it with my grandson across the country. Unfortunately, it was extremely frustrating for both of us. We couldn’t always get connected and when we did we frequently got disconnected. It was not a pleasant experience. So disappointing!

Today is Saturday and my grand children and I were looking forward to a long story time with games and puzzles too. We were not able to see the stories at the same time. The pages didn’t turn together. The games didn’t load. Caribu didn’t work well. We were disappointed. I’m an unhappy grandma.

I just renewed prescription if the picture can’t be enlarged along with some of the other problems making impossible to interact with Grand Kids I will need to cancel. 100 dollars is a lot of money This happened last time I bought it

I can’t hear the child I am calling! I see the picture but there’s no sound. I called on face time to see if something is wrong on either end with our settings and we could hear on another fine.

This is so glitchy but I love it. AEven as I write this, thee words are white giants a white background. It’s tricky for my mother to use it on her PC. WWhen it works it works great.

So for 2 months my 7 year old girl is loving Caribu.

Hard to use; keeps freezing

Caribu is awesome, i got it for my little bro so that he didn’t get as board as quickly… and of course he loved it! He actually walked up to me after his first call and said, “Sissy, I love this app! It’s soo cool, right?” and obviously I said yes! But, there are some cons… first of all, the adds. I understand that you want money to help your lifestyle… but, what if some kid is trying to play games and they have a short attenion span, they are going to be going from game to book to coloring pad amd back to games. and there are going to be just about 100,000,000 adds. Plus, if they accidentally click on it then i’ll be going to some random site. And the other (and only other) thing is that just about half of the games are premium, my little brother has seen the sticker games or something and it just happens to be premium. Can you play please just at least try to dial down some of the premium games (including the sticker games). But other than those this is absolutely amazing. Period. I love it! So, please download this app because it will bring a lot of happiness to the user. Thanks you for reading!

I love Caribu. My now 7 year old grandson and I have been enjoying this since the pandemic began and we couldn’t be together. He’s in northern CA and I’m in SoCal. We started with me reading to him and he turned the pages, but now he reads to me. We’re each looking at the same book on our own devices. We color the same pictures, he’s made cards for his mom and dad that I save on my device, then text them with it on their birthdays. I taught him how to play tic tac toe, and at the end of our sessions he tries his luck against Papa. When his family had Covid and he couldn’t go to school, he and I enjoyed our “Cave Time,” and read and played our games. I love this app so much that I purchased the unlimited minutes option because one hour was often just not enough. When my attorney daughter is working from home, I’m able to assist her in child care with Caribu. I can’t sing the praises loud enough about this app. It’s ideal for the long distant grandparent.

My grandkids and I play all the time. We love the variety of all the games and also enjoy reading. Great app for communicating across the miles.

I love it so much

My wife took a new job so she’s away for bed times so we got the app thinking it would allow her to read to our 4 and 6 year olds. When it works they love it, but audio goes away a flyer about 10 minutes, often leaving one kid having not read a story with mom. Not sure if its a bug or if call duration is limited, but once audio goes it doesn’t come back even with hanging up closing the app and trying again. Very frustrating!!!!

Recent updates have made it so it freezes up and restarting or even reinstalling don’t help. I had to watch an ad for a Nintendo switch before I could call grandpa and it crashed the app

Paid subscription is the only way to access the fun games and activities

A pride section for an app for my elementary aged kids?!? Seriously?!!

We are civilian DOD and as working parents on dual orders find ourselves geographically separated from our elementary-aged children for extended periods due to TDYs and erratic work schedules. This app is the best I’ve found to engage our kids in books and fun. We are grateful to have this platform, thank you!

I’m having troubles signing up. After I put name email and password it leaves me on a blank page I can’t seem to move forward

We love Caribu for all the reasons everyone is saying—we’ve been using it for years (daughter is now almost 8 and still uses it to hang out with grandparents who live out-of-state!). But I also want to give a shout-out to Erin for her customer service. I left a message and she returned the call within an hour and was so easy to work with! Very grateful for this app! :) :)

Also the app glitches quite a bit

We have loved using this app during times when our kids don’t have school or haven’t seen friends and grandparents much. However, why is it such a high subscription price? We likely use it 4 months out of the year when and would happily pay $3 a month or a set price for access or a pay as you go. But the current structure makes it unattainable.

Not clear for easy use.

This worked fine until a couple weeks ago- now can’t download most things-get gray blank frames- have re-installed with no improvement. Therefore I have decreased stars from 5 to 2. In the past have really enjoyed using this app with my 5 year old grandson. Very disappointed.

I paid for a year subscription but when I tried to use the service recently it tells me I need to to upgrade. I still have 6 months left of my $100 subscription. I am very frustrated that I cannot use my subscription.

Why don't you remove the upgrade🙏🏻
